Cult hook of the 'aripa' type found in the Karawari (Korewori) region. It probably depicts a powerful warfare and hunting spirit, characteristically standing on one leg. The hook-like 'arms' are in fact the spirit's ribs, and the patterns may represent his internal organs.

A small spirit board carved from either thick bark or from wood with some bark still on, leaving the upper surface rough and the underneath smooth. A stylized pattern forms a face at the top, surmounted by a headdress represented by bands of red-brown and white paint.

This naturalistic wooden figure is in good condition with a sheen to its surface. His facial features are very life-like compared to less Europeanised models. His eyes are carved out around the iris, his nose has a narrow bridge and a triangular protruding end with broad nostrils.

This shield has a cane frame covered with brown/black putty nut gum. Some of the sections are painted with red/brown paint. The decorative sections are made of roughly square opalescent pieces of nautilus shell.

This carved wooden head has a pronounced nose and jaw and large, angular ears set very far back. The ear lobes have vertically incised decoration. The figure has proportionally small arms and hands which hold a miniature head beneath the chin.

This smoothly carved, black hardwood stick widens from a fine point into a male figure (approximately a quarter of the height of the stick). This figure, which has circular shell eyes, clasps his hands at his chest.

A crescent shaped shell pendant, which hangs curved side down and has two small holes in the centre of the straight side from which it would be hung. At either point the shell is carved in the outline of the head of a small bird, the left slightly larger than the right.

The figure stands on what appears to have been a circular base, now missing a section at the back. It has square, flat hands and feet, with short fingers and toes delineated by incisions in the wood. The shoulders are disproportionately large, while the head extends back into a cone.

The clam shell disc has colour variations and is marked with black spotting. Placed on top of this is the angular tortoise shell carving, which represents the v-shaped tail and outstretched wings of a frigate bird.
