The flattened, globular flask stands on a spreading circular foot, with a short contracted garlic-neck and two right-angled handles from the rim to the shoulder.
Carved cinnabar lacquer ruyi sceptre.
The ruyi sceptre is decorated with a number of symbols including castanets, gourd, fan, peach, bamboo, fungus, vase and sword. Made of coloured lacquer. It is carved with a cloud-shaped head and a curved shaft.
This slim, shallow wooden mask shows a white face, painted with white clay or kaolin, and has a fibrous beard attached to the base of the mask. Facial features show cowrie-shaped eyes and a long, sagittate nose, and no mouth.
This smaller whistle has a cylindrical base with a suspension loop on one side, which shows evidence of wear, and an air vent on the opposite side. The tip is bulbous with a flat top.
This kneeling figure sits on a cylindrical base and is well polished and a rich honey colour. It shows a female figure in a prayer-like posture with closed eyes and evidence of filed teeth. The circular incised lines round the head indicate a cap.
This elaborately carved sceptre, or fly-whisk handle shows the image of a snake or reptile at the base, with a smooth shaft surmounted by a horse and rider sitting on a plinth.
This standing figure shows an intricately carved coiffure, delicate facial features, and large ears. The long feet and muscular calves are in contrast with the slender body. The figure is looking away slightly to the left with a cupped hand posture.
Seated on a stool this carved, female figure is suckling a baby, who is holding a rattle. The figure is made of a dark brown wood and shows areas of red pigment. The eyes and lips are painted white, as are the bracelets round her wrist and below the knee.
This trumpet is surmounted by two figures standing back to back. They have flat mask like faces. The arms are carved in a continuous band around the figures, joining at the hands. Between the two heads and in a double band below the figures are carved cowrie ornaments.
This trumpet is surmounted by a standing figure, under which, is the airhole, where the trumpet would be blown. The figure has sinewy arms, with the hands clasped as if holding a beard or in prayer.
