This earthenware ‘mythical beast’ is highly carved. It is depicted resting forwards on its front legs, the back and rear legs are slightly raised. On the back of the neck is square opening, which on this piece is damaged, but which may have housed an attachment.

This earthenware ‘mythical beast’ is highly carved. It is depicted resting forwards on its front legs, the back and rear legs are slightly raised. On the back of the neck of the piece is a square opening which may have housed an attachment.


Longshan black beaker

The blackware beaker is bulbous in shape, narrowing towards to top before flaring out at the lip. It is slightly scratched and the finish worn down in places.

This blackware goblet has a straight cup with a flared rim. The stem is bulbous and irregularly pierced through to the hollow centre, in vertical lines running down its length. The base is the same diameter as the cup and has a carved, decorative line running around th edge.


Yue celadon-glazes jar and cover with applied medallions

This jar is circular in shape, adorned with a circular lid and a handle on either side. Each handle is decorated with a simple face formed only of eyes, nose and mouth. A medallion motif covers the upper half of the jar, forming horizontal bands whch encircle the object.

This bottle is composed of two circular domed halves which are joined together. Both the top and bottom of the bottle have been flattened. Four rectangular strips also join the two halves. A circular tube-like spout protrudes from one side of the top half.
