Description:

This scroll has a brown background with gold floral motifs with a dark green silk panel at the base and top. The image shows a bald man seated on an a elaborately decorated chair, upon which is a red and jade green intricately patterned throw. The man is wearing black and jade green robes with an amber-coloured buckle on the upper right side of the chest, attached to which is red cord on the shoulder. The man’s hands are clasped together, palms upwards and sit in his lap. The facial features are shown in detail illustrating the lined face of an aged man. In front of the man is a small stool, elaborately decorated in the same manner as the chair, upon which sits a pair os slippers. In shades of blue and red, they are simply patterned with the toe raised to a point. Above the image are 23 vertical rows of black Japanese text.
